I liked the maps, they are helpful to try and figure out what a tour along the Elbe would be like, not at the same standard as Aventure Cycling, but pretty good.
Excellent info about the trail and about accomodations along the way!
Have not left yet for this trip, however we have used these books before and they are very clear and accurate.
Very thorough bicycle guide in the form off many small section maps on glossy paper contained in a ring binder kind of booklet where you can open up each page and it will lie flat. Typically when you open it, you will have a map section on the right-hand page and the left-hand page is dedicated to written instructions for the significant turns in the trail, plus advice about things to see along that section of the route. The basic assumption of the book is that you will be riding along the Elbe River DOWNSTREAM, but there are also "Other Way" inserts that describe the decision points for cycling in the UPSTREAM direction. Although we have not yet ridden the Elbe River trail system, we have used other "Bikeline" guides in the recent past and found them to be both very usable and portable enough to easily carry on our bikes during our trips.For excursions that divert completely off this route and want bicycling guidance, you might consider the Komoot bicycling app for iPads and smartphones, which we have used when creating our own bicycle tours in Germany and Denmark. The Komoot app will function with the iPad's GPS to give you a moving-map display of your current position and intended route, which is especially useful if you do NOT have the step-by-step guidance of the Bikeline guides, but that requires that you mount your iPad or smartphone somewhere on your handlebars.
